Old Mercury 3.5 and it started up and runs but makes this clanking sound. I kinda think it may have to do with the starting pull cable assembly. Any guesses would be appreciated. I got this from someone cleaning out a garage. $60

I think I saw something fly out from under the starter. Take it off and have a butchers, might be obvious. But if it aint the starter, maybe a coil has come loose but it sure dont sound good .you will need way more water in that bucket if you want the water pum p to work .
60 bucks could have bought a good pile of beers .😁

I transported motor in my truck and when we tried to start it up again gas was flowing from carb all over the place. What is that plunger thing on side of carb and how is it used. Also can't get prop to spin like in neutral but will go into neutral position and start up
