Re: WHAT IS THAT SMELL?????????

When I was a kid my mom let me buy a hamster with my own $. Before we even got it home, it got loose in the car. We looked and looked for it but couldn't find it. Needless to say, about a week later (Summer) the car started stinking. That is about the time my dad was made aware of the missing critter. My dad made me help him pull the seats and the dashboard. We never did fing the little booger. My mom must have sprayed 50 cans of Lysol into that car, but it was never the same. Athough the smell lessened over time that car still smelled when we got rid of it a few years later.

Not a boat story, but we did haul are 16' Crisscraft with that car.

My wife and I were perusing the fishing aisle of Walmart one day and she was reading the verbiage on a jar of catfish stink bait. She opened it for an exploratory sniff and recoiled in horror at the smell. After she recovered somewhat, she read where the label said, "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION".

She looked at me and said, "they must not think too much about people who fish, you know?"

I countered that she was the one who voluntarily sniffed something labeled "STINK BAIT".

Re: WHAT IS THAT SMELL?????????

went to get the newspaper one warm summer morning and smelled a different funk coming from the redneck neighbor house. got stronger over the next couple of days to the point you could see the fumes and it was now a steady funk, instead of wafting.

Saw the ganya (indian for redneck) and asked him what the smell was - he had a giant cooler in the driveway full of sea trout that he had brought home from his last fishing trip. He had left them in the cooler and they were sitting in the sun now for a good 2 weeks.

they sat there for another week and the smell was then gone.

We live on a small 18 acre lake, he dumped the cooler into the lake "turtles like that type of food" was the comment and he used 10 gallons of clorox to clean the smell out of the cooler

On a side note -

one day we were grilling out and the ganya was over and I said bring something over to throw on the grill and he said I have some steaks for all of us.

He brings over 6 freezer burned ribeyes that smelled like fish :(

I said "no thanks" he smelled them and said ahhh their ok and tossed them on the grill. He and his family ate them with all the trimmings.
