1971 Dodge Challenger--383 engine, red with black vinyl top. My sister got braces on her teeth--I got the new car halfway through college.

Sure was good lookin', was very fast and got 18 mpg. But, the brakes were terrible, the rear end hummed, and it ate windshield wiper park switches. Out of my 50+ new cars, it was probably the worst car of all.

Boy, I sure do miss that car.

Your post reminds me that around that age I got one of those planes too. Didnt take long to destroy the plane but I recently found the engine for it in an old box I had stored in my attic for years. It would be a treat to see if I could hear it run one more time. Even though it was 50 years ago I still can recall the smell of the fuel it used.

If its not seized it'll run. That glow fuel is nasty stuff though.

...a shotgun I get, a hunting rifle I get....but an assault weapon on Christmas....hilarious, the kids should love that...oh, well. To each his own.

On Christmas 1975 my wife got to come home from treatment for a brain tumor from Northwestern University Medical Center for 4 days, it don't get better than that.

A little boy. He actually came into this world on August 30, 2005. As you may deduce from my "location," that is quite a day to come into the world, in my neck of the woods. On one day, we suffered a devastating blow to our city and on the next, this new life came and changed my life forever.

I am an OFB (old fat bastard), who's life has been made different in a way that I really wasn't planning on experiencing. Now, I wouldn't change it for anything. He is my joy and my awakening to something beyond special.

My brother got me a Dreamcast when I was a kid. He was 18 and didn't have much money, but he scraped together $250 and got me the system with another controller. Today I'll be lucky if he spends $10 or gives a sh** about what he's getting me, so I enjoy thinking back to when he cared.

I was noticing the almost complete absence of tech toys as being overly memorable......fun, for sure...but maybe not in the memorable Category.
for us our Christmas day was great....very relaxing.....no schedule, which is tradition. The only thing we did 'on time' was get the bird in the oven.
Sweeeeet!!.....now on boxing day, the next great tradition...the World Junior Hockey Tournament.
Hopefully everyone got the main and great point of the day. If you want to do it all over again....you're 'in the club'!!

Having Deck Swabber 58 play Santa for our 3-year old granddaughter. This was the 2nd year in a row.

Just seeing her face light up and knowing she still believes is priceless. Thank you Deck Swabber 58!!

I have 2 that mean a lot to me. They are from my step daughter, our first Christmas together. It was a cards aid that said Daddy's first Christmas. She was 14 at the time. It meant a lot that she accepted me as her step dad. The second was this year, a gift from the wife a surprise trip to our favorite spot, in Florida. She had all the arrangements made with my boss for the time off and the trip booked before Christmas day.

They both meant a lot to me.

Beign a family forum I can't get into specifics but at 17 my steady girl gave me a present on Christmas eve I will ALWAYS remember.

Apparently another failed marriage in my immediate family. Not me as I'm not married yet (and this doesn't help the situation). 2 out of 3 kids marriages failing is not good odds for our fam. It's a tough thing to deal with, but I know my sis will get through it. God bless her and her children.

Having my family over in my own home this year is going to be memorable..especially with the D-vorce for dessert.

Every year, same gift...the week between Xmas and new years, of peace, quiet and fishing with my brother and our wives at Cedar Key, Florida!....nice gift for all of us!....
