Re: What is the fastest you have gone on water?

I have squeezed out 49mph with my deckboat on an early morning ride alone. I was surprised because I had had it up to 49 mph with my wife and kids in as well so I figured a little bit less weight and i would break fifty. not so..
Maybe once I get my smart tabs on, empty my fresh water tank and run it on 1/4 tank i'll get it

Put the baseball hat on backwards (all the pros on TV do that) and don't forget the wrap around “go fast” sun glasses. Thats good for at least another .25mph! :)

My little runabout will do about 32 kts., which is really only good when things are like glass. On a buddy's jet ski a few years ago, however, I made it up to an indicated 68 mph. That was a was definitely an experience. Honestly, that was too fast for me.

Nearly 70 MPH on a buddy's Velocity 260 with the 454 Mercruiser. We've clocked it at 73 MPH with a radar gun... scary fast in my book. I'll stick to my 45ish on my boat.

Well I was riding in my brother's 17ft tri hull Stryker bass boat, we always half to take our hats off and sunglasses. The worst part is, I had the hat in my hand and leaned over to see what my brother had to say and I lost grip of my hat (that he gave me for a gift) out in the channel the hat went :(. My brother's boat will do around 50mph, with a 1975 115hp E'rude on back, been verified by GPS.

My little 15ft Challenger bass boat with a 1978 85hp E'rude will keep up with my brother's boat and I still have to big of a prop on my outboard which causes me not to get the rpms that I need.

The fastest I have been in a boat was in my uncles (X) 2006 Pro Craft if I remember right it had a 150hp Mercury on the back and it would do around 70mph. I drove it once but not at full throttle, just half. I fealt like I was on top of the world when I got to drive that boat :), although the steering was a little stiff it handle like a dream otherwise.

My boat goes maybe 40, haven't clocked because I'm not too concerned about speed with it.

As for the fastest I've driven on the water, 75.8 MPH (GPS Speed) on a 2007 Cobalt 343 w/ Twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI Bravo I XR on Table Rock Lake, MO. Trim the K-Planes to 3.5 and watch that rooster tail shoot up =)

Does it have to be liquid? Look up ice boating speed records. Official records range up to 143MPH. Not bad for under sail. I wish I had the oportunity to try one, but not really viable for me. My personal fastest is only 30MPH on my boat (40Hp Evenrude on a 15Ft LOWE aluminum bass boat). Although, several years ago, a friend took me for a spin on a real bass boat at 45MPH if I recall correctly.

54 MPH on the speedo.

I'll have to make another attempt now that I have a GPS.

This was done with just my wife and I in the boat, 53 gallons of gas, 12 gallons in the freshwater tank, all normal gear. The air temp was about 70 and there was about a 1' wind-blown chop on the lake. Not bad for a 3700 pound boat with a 5.0 MPI.

I kinda though when I put this up it would be a good thread and it hasn't disappointed.

Getinmerry, you must be young and stupid before you can be old and wise, that sounds like a blast, 25 years ago.

I noticed to ,like mine, the really fast posts almost always begin, I was on a freinds/uncles ect boat, speed costs money, you may as well let someone else pay.

Unless I had dumbasstic amounts of money I really don't think I would want a go fast.

I have been 147 on a Honda CBR motorcycle but I can't even imagine doing that on a boat, YIKES.

65mph, Boat speedo, it was my first boat. 17 foot Sleekcraft with a 115 Black Max Merc outboard. Was great on glass, but any chop, you were airborne.
It was/is a death trap.
Sold it back in 96:D

Re: What is the fastest you have gone on water?

About 25 years ago my friend's uncle loaned us a Grumann canoe with a flat back made for a small electric motor (up to 2hp as I recall). He loand it to us with the understanding that we were paddling with it.

Not so. I dropped on my grandfather's 10hp Evinrude Jubilee.

I have no idea how fast we were able to go, but I can tell you that on flat water in a straight line- it felt like 80 (probably about 40 in reality). If I tried to turn, the canoe would want to capsize, but straight runs were fun as he11!

Chuck

Dang, now there's something I can do with one of my old 10's!!! :)

I hit 50 in my dads boat in smooth water. My buddy was hitting 110 on a 500'000 dollar custom made 30 foot speed boat and he hit a wave caught air then a gust caught the front of his boat and flipped it. He got knocked out and drown and he had 2 hooters girls aboard that got away without a scratch. So be smart when your going fast

78 Gps 41' Velocity w/ twin 496HO's and XR drives in 2- 3' seas during Daytona to ST Augustine poker run.. Really want to check out one with more motor.

65 speedo on Seadoo on St John's

Not sure about my Baja it's sacred me though, then again you sit down on the water and run fast, tell me it don't get your blood pumping.

You guys are so funny about the canoe. Why's everybody so ready to be a nazi with the keyboard? I should start a post on people who just love to argue with someone they don't know and can't see.:)

Re: What is the fastest you have gone on water?

Back in the late 80's my brother-in-law had a ranger bass boat with a big motor. Don't know what the HP it was but it was black and very large. I had only pulled a skier on a smaller low powered boat but he wanted to ski. I dumped the throttle and trimmed it out. When he finally got the message to my sister to have me slow down, he dropped off and cussed me out. Do you have any idea how fast you were going he ask, nope I say, well this thing will do well over 70. Do you know what its like on skies at 70 he ask, nope I say, well I do and it was scary as hell.

Another friend of mine had this drag boat thing. It was a 16 to 18 foot hull with a super charged 427 straight shaft drive. I have no idea how fast I was going but after a few seconds I couldn't see a thing. It was all I could do just to hold on. I never want to get in another boat with a rail car motor in it.

A rail car motor? Lol... :D Do you mean a dragster or a train? :D

I've been very fast on the water many times in many different boats.

This is one of my videos.

Well.....! That's all well & good fellas, but you can't catch fish at 127 mph. The most I've done is 22 mph. And like the tortoise and the hare....it's not how fast you get there....it's what you do on the way that counts. :D

Drag car :)

I was a crop duster pilot in another life. If boating in that manor is for fun then there sure aint no way I could scare you in an airplane :D
A few minutes in one of them things left me the impression that I may not be going home if I get back in it. A spray plane never made me feel like that. I love speed and danger bout good as any body but; Thu shalt not tempt the Lord thy God :D:D

The faster you can go the sooner you can start fishin' :D

I've ridden in a few pontoon boats with all the bells and whistles. Nice relaxing day but for me... I get bored after about 1/2 hour.

It's like a trip to disneyland. Do you go and sit on a park bench all day or ride the rides. ;)

I've hung out of helicopters filming race boats at a good clip and just over their heads. I don't usually get scared but the elevator (up or down) can make me feel sick.

Remember gentlemen, life's to short to be bored. You go around once, have some fun.
