bout 53 in my friends Hydrosports CC with a 225 Evinrude ocean runner
in hard chesapeake chop felt like a lot faster

70mph on the Sea Doo 4tech in about 5 seconds and 51 mph in my Sea Ray 18.5ft. Definitly fast enough to empty your wallet in gas.

Last weekend we had both my 15' Peterborough Fury (I've decided that's what it is), and my brother-in-law's 17' Skeeter bass boat at the cottage.

The 15-footer topped out at a "furious" 21 mph, but we had a nice run down the lake in the bass boat at an indicated 60.

Amazing how much faster it feels on the water!

Also if frozen water counts I've ran the same lake on my brother-in-law's Yamaha V-Max 600 snowmobile, hit around 90 mph if I recall correctly.

47 on a pontoon???? Are you sure that wasn't a catamaran??? Jeeez, I dont know, all I have ever done is putt putt over a grass flat on one of those, and when he pushed it we must have been doing all of 25.

Hell, 47 and I would be swept off the deck.

Fastest ride was the wifes boss' Yamaha Exciter. 270 hp 16' would hit about 65.

Iv been up to 45 in my uncles pontoon. They do go fast don't remember what motor he had but it went. We had 4 people on one side i thought it was going to flip over he cut it way to sharp. he was just laughing.
My skis do about 50-60

Hated every minute of it. It wasn't a ride, it was an adventure.

Pickle fork boat (forget name) with a V-8 Johnson.

My 11' hydroplane does 67 mph.
I have a friend with a 16' 2L hydro that does a little over 100mph. He's about $4,500 away from finishing the current refit and I get to take her for a spin.
Guess I'd better dig out my class IV PFD!

65 mph in a firend's Action Craft, borderline scary to me, my boat trimmed out will hit mid 40's, 50 with no one in it and a 1/4 tank of fuel.

Don Garlits and my buddy from high school worked together at American Can Co. They lived in the same neighborhood in Sefner, Fl. One afternoon we heard a lot of ruckus from Don's lake and headed over. He had one of his Top Fuel motors in an 18' Glastron. Stupid me, I said sure when he asked us aboard...one at a time. I heard we hit about 128....all I can tell you I have yet to go faster either on land or in the water!
The acceleration was unbelievable...and how he kept that thing from flipping, I'll never know. We had a lot of good taco dinners over there at his place. He and his wife, Patty were friendly and down to earth people.

I guess the way i see it is its only water ... Feels like i get beat up a few days after falling on the ski and hitting the water.

BULL**** TALKS!!! you all use gps. IT SUCKS!!!! My gps says I am moving at 30 mph while docking, to pick up ice at marina. on the other hand, I run with a freind that has a donzi, and YES!! I through a roostertail at 65mph.

Older cheaper gps and company have affect on accuracy. Mine is always spot on in the car and on water still have to try it in my boat.

Did 92 in a buddies speed boat with a blown big block, he needed someone to watch the GPS and witness it's top speed. Way too fast to be running on the water.
I was on board a twin blown big block boat that the owner said would do 104, but I never saw the GPS reading to confirm it. I think that day we spent more time out of the water than in the water running about a mile off shore.
As far as me driving, I took another buddies cigarette boat up to 78 one day but conditions wouldn't allow me to keep it up or go any faster.

I'm just as happy cruising along at 30 or so in a fishing boat.

I've been 65 on water ski's. Not by choice, back in the late 60s or early 70s I was learning to barefoot but my boat just wouldn't quite go fast enough. Some drunk who had a jet boat with a 455 CI olds engine in his boat saw me struggling with the speed and asked if I wanted to try behind his boat. I told him to take it up to 40 then throttle back. The SOB went to full throttle at 40. Before I knew it I was afraid to let go. He said we were doing 65 when I hit a chop and hit the water. Almost broke my back. I would have killed him if I wasn't hurting so much. It knocked the breath out of me and wrenched my back, I missed 3 days work.

Had my boat to 47, but while riding a jet ski and tried to do the big 180, I musta been doin' over a hundred cart wheeling across the top of the water when it threw me off...hehe. My wife got a big kick out of it anyway!
