I love the roll cage on that one??? I guess if they are going too fast and hit land it'll do em some good.

The roll cage is for the occasional altercation in the corner. The skiffs will occasionally turn out in a turn( not sure of the correct terminology). I think they roll so far inside that the rudder loses grip and they roll out of the turn. If the boats are side by side the inside boat has ridden right up and over the outside boat. I'm not sure of the speed in the turns, but I would guess 60+.

About 75mph to 80 mph in two different boats:
1) Baja 24ft, with a 496 mag efi, Intake, chipped and tuned.
2) Donzi Classic 22 with a 454 (it was scary full tilt) haha.

I worked with a guy who had a Talon, with twin Merc 300 O/B/s.

We live in the Seattle area, i used to work with him doing residential foundations and we happened to get a job in Renton, at the south end of Lake Washington. We both lived on the North end of Lake Washington in the Kenmore area.

Lake Washington is about 20 miles long. We launched in Kemore at 6 in the morning, and made it to the south end in about 8 min. Average speed, 81 mph GPS.

Going under the Evergreen Point floating bridge was quite exciting. There is a 25-30 gap between the beach and the bridge support, lining up with that at 80 MPH is quite fun.
The guy in the Bass boat that was fishing next to it only saw a red flash probably.

He was the ony other boat on the water that early. What a rush

Re: What is the fastest you have gone on water?

I had an uncle that had a 12 ft drag boat with a small block that was so load that people would get out of the water when he would put it in at the ramp. My uncle, granddad and I were riding one day (also the only time I road on it) and apparently my granddad asked how fast the boat would go anyway. Needless to say I guess it was just easier for my uncle to show him than to talk over all that noice...the official number was around 112 mph. I think we were running around 105. Not something I care to do again. My boat goes 45 and thats plenty fast for me! I asked him later why he would race it and already be running 60+ when the lights turned green...he said that the boat would bite down so hard in the water that it would flip over backwards if you floored it sitting still. Did I mention he wore a parachute on his back when he raced as well.

As Bill said, the Jersey speed skiffs ("JS" with the role cages) tend to bounce around, and its not fun to have one land on top of you & run its prop across you. Or, just plain get thrown out at 60+ .

They do about 75+ on the straight aways today.
