Hi folks... I've got a weird request for the Starmada:
My dad recently asked me if I wanted to have his runabout boat. He doesn't use it and wants to get rid of it. He said it's easier just to give it to me than it is to sell it. I'm certainly not going to question that logic
.
I'm not a boat fanatic, so my knowledge does not even approach anyone else's on this board. Anyway, a few things that he told me do not seem to match up with what I've researched, and I was wondering if the knowledgeable folks here could set me straight (I have not taken the boat yet and I do not have pictures).
What he told me:
It's a 1970 Starcraft 14' closed-bow fiberglass runabout (he gave me no specific model name). It's only rated for 60hp, but he put a 75hp outboard motor on it. Seats 6. From the propeller to trailer-ball on the trailer he measured 19'.
What I'm thinking:
- In 1970, a closed-bow runabout is probably a Holiday?
- 14' seems to be too small? I could not find any record online (including this forum) of a 1970 Starcraft 14' boat that was not a fishing boat.
- In addition to the above, the measurement of 19' profile while on the trailer makes it seem like it's more likely 16' or 18'?
- Does 1970 even sound like the right year for a fiberglass hull? http://www.iboats.com/Starcraft_Marine__1970/bp/54br1466y says probably not.
Are my assumptions incorrect
Any input from you Starcraft historians and sleuths would be valued. Obviously I'm going to be getting this information eventually, but he won't be able to go out and measure it/find the registration card for a week or so.
Thanks!
