That grinder is currently on sale (with coupon) from Harbor Freight for $14.99. Since I'm a tin boat owner, I don't even know if I should buy one? LOL :D

BWR you wont have a real need for it with a Tincan but they are handy I have a makita Grinder I have had for years granted I am a HUGe DIYer and also play with steel and welding so I use the heck out of it :D. The tool you will get the most use out of on a Tincan is a random orbit sander like this one which oddly enough I have and it works great.

Oh cool! I actually have one of those that I bought from HF earlier this year. Worked well for refinishing/painting furniture.

The only tool that I seem to be missing! I'll have to pick one up one of these days.

Sitting here reading all your replies,I realized that my "wet/dry" shop vac was verrrrry useful simply because my wife put her central vac system off limits and there was no way a broom and dust pan would work.

Rick is correct, it is safer to use these grinders with the guards in place. The cutoff wheel is placed in the picture for illustration purposes only. It actually goes on the grinder with the tapered side of the wheel out. I put it that way so that readers would know what brand and type cutoff wheels I use.

I think we should add some safety tools here as well.

Gloves suitable for working with resin, epoxy, fiberglass etc.
Coveralls or long sleeve shirt and pants.
Safety glasses or preferably goggles.
A REAL air purifying respirator (shown below), not the paper dust masks.

Hey what about a link to a tyvek suit most people are always going on about. I was interested in getting one of those but I didn't see one in Home Depot, granted I wasn't looking to hard.

You're welcome! They're made from recycled Tyvek but work fine and you can save a bundle on them if you use them alot.

OK this awesome tool I have not seen on here. This is a grinding wheel with chunks of metal welded to it. It takes fiberglass edges down VERY fast so please be careful. Can be had at your local harbor freight for 6 bux. It literally EATS fiberglass.

thrillhouse, get a spiral burr bit for that roto-tool. The side cutting bits that came with it are junk. A good tapered burr works great for grinding out tight inside corners with that tool. It also cuts fiberglass like butter.

yeah never thought of that drewp, Its a trim router but it could be used for anything with a 1/4" collet. But, I do have a dremel also.

I hate to say it but one of the more important and probably cheapest tool I've used on my boat is piece of yard string to check for straightness.
