i have a 73 135ph johnson that i recently purchased and have been using a 50:1 mix ratio. Today i had to take her, long story, but to a boat mechanic. turns out my carbs had some gunk in it. so they did a rebuilt and she's running great now. when we ran her it smoke a bit but it had always done that. he asked what mix i was using and i told him. he said i should use 1 guart for every 10 gallons. does this sound right? what ratio would that be?

50:1 is the correct mix, if you want to reduce smoke a little use synthetic it smokes less.

Thre are 4 quarts in 1 gallon so 40 quarts in 10 gallons so that would make the mix 40:1. A bit more oily than the 50:1 mix you are using
