what is the year of this motor?

the sites listed in the top message only go up to 1996.

I am looking at a 60HP bigfoot, S/N 06877451, the owner said it was a '98, but then he said it was a '99. where can I find that out, as it determines the resale value of this motor.

Re-check the number, I think it should be 0G877451 for late 90's.

Yup, it's a G. And I ended up calling Mercury. is an early '99. the guy bought it new in '98. was there a big difference between the years.

Engine manufacturers are allowed to start sell a particular year model from Sept of the previous year. So, 1999 models can be sold from Sept 98.
