This may be a no brainier for some but I cannot figure out what this bracket is for and I do not have any original literature for my boat. It is a fiberglass 16 foot 1962 Alumacraft 75hp Johnson super sea king elactromatic. I have seen this sort of oblong oval bracket on other older boats, there are 4 of them total 2 on each side. The brackets are positioned to match up directly across from each other.

What is it for, how is it used?

Thanks Nicholas

Cover support, you take a flexible board and bend it to fit into the bracket, it forms a curve shape to let water run off the cover.

I'll bet they are for a cover system of some kind. Similar to the one my fisher had with wood slats that prevented the cover from sagging when stretched over the boat.
