I would think that might be for a " kill switch "------But why do you ask ?

I think that's the safety switch for the man overboard lanyard to kill the motor if the operator goes over the side.

I’ve had my boat for over 8 years and never new what it was for, thought I would ask. It pushes in like a button. My guess was some kind of electric choke or something but I don’t know. It doesn’t do anything when I push it in.

I guess I’ll have to dig a little deeper when I get a chance and see where it leads to.

Since that area is typically where a kill switch usually goes, but there doesn't seem to be one there, It could be they installed a block cap. See if you can pull that cap off. If so that is what they did. I'm surprised you don't have a kill switch all these years. Could be a good idea to look into installing one and using it. Could save your life or someone else's. JMHO

If it is a kill switch, and the boat runs fine, I bet it's not hooked up.
