What is this carburetor part called?

On my 1979 80hp 4 cyl. I recently cleaned the carbs. I noticed that one of the ?valves? Was missing. It is the piece that the float pushes closed and allows to open. Before I go looking for one, could someone please tell me what this part is called, thanks

Sounds like the carb is missing a float needle?

Post a pic of what your looking at so it can be confirmed.

I would agree with Roger based on how you describe it. Pics would definitely help.

If it is a needle, there is no need to look for it. It will come with a rebuild kit which you need anyway since it is disassembled.
