Intermediate electrical gremlins are a real pain. My advice would be to check/clean every connection you can, straighten the main harness like Don suggested. Then I would buy a factory electrical components manual so you have a color coded wiring diagram and a keep that along with test light and maybe some "jumper wires" in the boat. If you have a condition where it wont start again and you have test light and a wiring diagram you can start to troubleshoot it. The hose clamp is factory , at least I assume it is because mine has the same thing. I bought it from original owner and it had 40 hrs on it and I am not sure he ever lifted the hatch, cant see him "adding" anyhting.
