I know a picture would help greatly, but I am at work and don't have one to post yet. I just purchased a 98' Q5 and have a question before I launch it for the fist time. On the back of the boat to the left of the drain plug hole there is another hole. It is not threaded, black with a small notch on both sides. I do not have a live well, but the hole looks exactly like the chrome live well hole on the new models, only it's black. Is there anyone out there with a 98' that can help? Or even your best guesses. I am afraid to launch without knowing if this hole needs to be plugged or not.

Thanks in advance

I'd be careful with that. Make sure you know what is what before you launch. My 06 has a drain plug in the middle, a brass threaded plug to the left for draining and changing the oil, and a hole to the right for the live well. If your not sure, run a coat hanger or soething alse up the hole and see where it goes. Better double safe than sinking! You're right, a picture would help.

Faceing to the back of the boat from the inside the far right cushion raises up. The drain in the bottom of the tub goes to the hole in the back of the boat, no chance of the boat sinking. From time to time water may enter the tub especially when slowing the boat.
