What is this in my engine compartment?

Can't figure it out. It has some sort of pin contraption on it. Have played with it yet. I'm afraid my boat will sink in my back yard.:D

Any Idea?

If it's in the center, I'd say it's a base for a ski tow pylon.

It's in the center of the boat centerline and the side of the hull. And there is only one.

I believe that is a thru hull transducer for a fish finder or depth finder.

That's almost where I was going. If the wire goes to it, it's probably a shoot-thru..., or you could be correct...

I have several pictures of this area and the wires always stayed in the same position. I'll take a closer look in the early AM.

what is a "shoot-thru"

By the way, there is a fish finder fitted.

It's a thru hull transducer. You should be able to see the bronze head under the boat. It's not a shoot through. The center can be removed (when the boat is out of the water) and a speed and or temp sensor can be installed.
