Looks like you "PINGED" the end of the sealing surface.

As long as it's just the end you should be good to go.
Pretty delicate work required.
I've seen a lot worse done.

Trick we used to do. Put welding ground clamp on the race. (From the bottom) Run a farmer rod on the race for a couple of seconds at a high heat. Maybe a bead about 1/4 of the way around. Slide the expanded race off quickly using the ground clamp for a grip.

Ten seconds to a clean shaft.

I think I'll give that a try next go around. never had luck heating with the oxy/acet to remove but maybe quick with a rod might make the difference. I'll see. thanks.

If yer skilled with a cutting torch, it's pretty easy to gouge it 90% with an aircraft size torch, then just tap it with a hammer to break it off. If you accidentally gouge the shaft a touch, it really doesn't hurt anything that a hand file won't fix. Just watch out for the seal surface.

wow, for a lot of guys most of those tools and proceedures are heavily tool and equipment related.

I ordered a new axle last week , came in 3 days...took me 1 hour to change of the old for the new...the axle cost $130 (3500 lbs 66" spring centers and 80" track) bought new u bolts as well $27

Total$175......

I did use a torch to cut the old U bolts off( dont want to fight long threads on rusty bolts(

just think of all your options before you go at a project
