Re: What is this part???
I read the manual and thought I had the fluids understood... I'm a gal who is not mechanically inclined in anyway whatsoever tryin' her damndest not to destroy this boat, lol! Urgh, there is so much to learn...
I purchased
Quicksilver Power Trim & Steering Fluid because the power steering fluid was low and put that in.
Now the "Drive Oil" Reservoir is low so I purchased
Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube (4qts) of it. This is the correct fluid, right? I purchased the boat in april and was told the lube in the outdrive was new, but I didn't ask what kind... so can I just add this to the reservior or will I need to change the oil in the outdrive and fill the reservior since the brands should not be mixed? (there's a youtube video on this, I purchased the pump too).
So the trim pump and reservior (that you all have so kindly identified for me) would have the same fluid I used for the power steering?
And - knowing this will probably be making all of your boatin' guys out there want to bang you head on the desk... but... just so I can try to understand - the drive oil (aka gear lube) powers the outdrive and the trim fluid moves the drive up and down when you trim in and out? (I was thinking of the outdrive and trim as all one thing so that's where my confusion is coming from).
Sorry - if they made a manual to explain the ins and outs of boat maintenance for total newbs like me with no experience and no mechanical inclination then I'd be interested! Until I find that I can drive ya'll crazy in this forum.
