what is this plug looking thing in bottom of boat

hi i bought a 1983 sea ray 225 srv,,,,saw this plug looking thing towards the back of the boat and was wondering what it is????what is it and whats it do????

I'm venturing that a PO had a thru hull 'something' there and was removed. Could be from a transducer, a raw water pickup or scoop. Just a guess.
