Hey guys
Maybe one of you can help me.
I went and cleaned out my mother in laws garage and I found two props.
they are both Michigan propellers they look liek brass to me. its not stainless steel or alluminum. its more of a copper goldish color.
the props have a stamp
Michigan on one side of the hub and the other AJC488. they are two blade props. Anyone know what boat uses these or what theire for? I know my wifes parents had boats but her dad is passed away and her mom cant remember much these days
thanx

Go to their miwheel.com website and email them. I asked about two I put up on eBay and they responded rather quickly. :) I just got a catalog from them two days ago, but AJC wasn't on the cross reference list. :(

Rob, Do they have the exhaust thru the hub feature? If so, a lot of old Merc OB props were two bladed and brass/bronze. The old OMC props would have had the sear pin drive, without thru the hub exhaust.

Re: What is this prop for

it looks like the hob area is strictly for the driveshaft part. I got a Email from Michigan and the guy said its for 50 HP Johnson/Evinrude motor manufactured in 1958 and 1959. Thanx to all that answered.
What is brass worth these days for recycling. I have no motor to use these on so I may recycle them. or I can polish them up and hang them in the garage

Don't scrap them !!! At worst sell them on e-bay to someone that maybe needs one for a restoration project. Use them as ornaments...but please do not scrap them !!!

Didn't some of the old inboards use the 2 blade brass props? Like off an old ski boat?

Someone somewhere needs those props. Worth more as props than brass. I agree ebay.

Rob, The '58 and '59 Evinrude and Johnson 50HP models were the highest E/J HP model at the time. They were known as the "Fat-Fifty" and were the prototype for the very sucessful V-4 motors (60-90HP and more) that J/E sold for many years. For many years (maybe still) the only prop you could get from J/E for those motors was a general-purpose aluminum 14P 3 blade. I expect what you have might bring a good price to a collector or restorer of Fat-Fifties.

I agree. In the Fat Fifty days, everyone called those two-blade brass props "speed props."

If they're in good condition, there will be a nice surprise on eBay for the guy selling them. Hard to find.
