Hey guys just boat a 1993 Smoker Craft Alaskan Pro 15' boat. Previous owner said he does not know what this white tank is for? Any ideas??? It has a 40 HP Mercury 2 stroke oil injected which the oil goes into the motor, has an Evinrude 4 hp kicker 2 stroke that gets its oil pre mixed into its gas tank. The hose goes down under the deck of the boat and have no idea where it could be going.

This may be the only time I'll ask to move closer before snapping a pic. Any words on it?

Welcome aboard.

lol, sorry the picture was bigger but had to make it smaller to fit the 2mb rule. I guess I asked to soon, I took the tank out and it appears that it is an oil tank. My fuel tank has a T fitting on it, looks like this oil tank feeds to the gas tank? Must of been used for a motor that is no longer on the boat.

I didn't mean bigger picture. Closer to the tank is what's needed.

No markings on the tank at all?

There are 2 stroke oil systems with two tanks. One on the motor for oil injection or metering. A 2nd tank is oil storage to keep the motor tank filled.

Does the tank have anything in it?

awh, gotcha- yes the top of the tank has a fuel symbol with a slash through it and an oil drop. it is basically empty other then residual oil in the tank.

Mercury had a two tank oil system which I can't remember the name for it, that was a time bomb. It often allowed the tank on the motor to go dry and motor ran with out oil. Maybe the PO just kept the motor tank filled and didn't use the remote tank. :noidea:
