what is this wire?

sorry about no pic.....

its a 1988 yamaha 40 HP elec start no tilt.

there is a red wire coming out of the cowling where the battery cables come out, what is this wire?

Seloc manual does not mention this wire anywhere, on any page.

What is it connected to?

externally, it was connected to the positive battery terminal, i haven't had a chance to look under the cowling for where it goes.

it goes into the CDI box, but i havent had a chance to see where it goes in the box
