Hello again everyone,
I have a 1988 Celebrity 5.0 AlfaOne. Above the fuel pump is the fuel/water seperator filter. OK sitting on that is an electrical device with a push button 50 amp circuit breaker. My question is, what is the breaker assembily for? And I have traced a red with blue strip wire from the breaker to the Alt. This wire was hooked up to the sealed ignition housing on the rear of the alt. Any clue as to what this wire is for. The old alt had two wires coming from the ignition houseing, the new one only has one. Boat runs without it being hooked up and the battery is now charging correctly, Im really stumped on this one. Anyone have a clue as to what the wire is for?
thanks in advance for anything ya'll got......

Re: What is this???

That is the main circuit breaker for everything that comes off the engine. It's the circuit breaker in section B of the drawing below, just above the starter.
This also feeds power to the ignition switch and sometimes other accessories on the boat.
It also has nothing to do with the alternator wire. The alternator wire goes to the main terminal on the starter, just like the batt cable and the Circuit breaker wire. Basically a big junction block.

Don, Thank you very much this is exactly what I needed. This will help with a few other things that I know that I will be soon asking about. I am going to put this diagram on disk. May the best that life has to offer be yours. Have a great one..

Don on the diagram in section B, on the back of the alt, there is a red/pur wire, if this is left unconnected at the alt, what will happen? The reason I ask is, I installed a new alt and instead of red and red/pur coming out of the housing (like the original) it only has a yellow wire. In every other way the alt is exactly the same. Further more, I can interchange the two housings and brushes, if needed to make it correct. Any thoughts?
