I haven't followed it back to anything. I'm guessing it's the transducer to my Lowrance. If it is, I didn't know they looked like this. Anyway, if that's what it is, does anyone know what kind it might be, if just by looking at the pic, if possible. I wanna go into the "transducer installation" on my Lowrance HDS and make sure it is set to that specific transducer. I looked on the transducer cord directly out of the Lowrance, but I didn't see any id tags on the cord, at least in plain view.

That looks like a water temperature sensor. I had a inside-the-hull mounted transducer, but the fishfinder/GPS unit also had temperature sensing capabilities. That little plug goes outside the hull to get the water temp.

I was thinking a temp sensor, but after I had googled it, and looked through the images, I couldn't find a single image of that component.Looking at a lot of brass/copper looking ends is about all I see.

I can't see the very end/tip of the piece, but it's a silvery metal, right? I'm still guessing temp sensor! That's what mine (Humminbird) looked like.

Yes Sir, just a solid metal end. Is that connected to my Lowrance? Without looking (not by it right now), I have an ethernet, power, sonar, and I believe the NMEA connections on back of unit. Not sure where it goes to. I bought the boat used and it was already done. Learning as I go. I have had it for four years now. I'm ready to learn the ends and outs of the Lowrance capabilities rather than just turning it on and looking at it. lol

If the transducer is mounted for 'thru the hull' usage, it more than likely a water temperature sensor like JASinlL2006 is saying. :)

It's also possible it was used with a previous unit and isn't doing anything now. I'd follow the cable and see how it's terminated. Should be easy to see if the Lowrance has a receptacle for it.
