This was once a nice AlumaCraft Tampico II runabout. Notice the 1964 catalog picture. This is what happened after modifications. This happens all too often. I wish people would think before trashing stuff. Part of my reason for starting a Vintage Alumcraft website.
I also seen the boat on eBay.... so sad, gone forever. My same boat (a utility) is also there and trashed because of alterations. It is always so common to see.

It's why we need vintagealumacraft.com.

I so enjoy looking at and using original kept old boats and more so with the same year motors on. They are rare.

Vintage in ruin

There is the ebay listing for those of you who havent seen it. I just noticed it today actually as I was browsing.

Is the wood on that transom original? If it is, its beautiful. Its amazing.......... looking at the way that rig is now you wouldn't be able to tell what it once looked like.

I agree that those vintage boats shouldn't be transformed, especially when a modern boat design will acomplish the same thing.

Nice boat Sunfishd:) Haven't received anything in my PM mail.

Weird.... I just tried forwarding the message to you again... perhaps it will make it to you.
Yeah I really love my lummies .....
I have the one shown above, and a model FDR that took quite a bit of diggin to find a catalog page about it...
8) if you don;t get mt "PM" shoot me an email to ironcounty@sbcglobal.net and I'll send it to you that way in a reply to you.

PS) you might have to go into your profile and turn on the "receive PM's from other users" option... I just did that in my own profile just now

The option is in your "user area" then "edit profile" from there

There is one of those for sale at www.laniermarineliquidators.com it is a 15 ft that is completely stripped and needs to be restored. It is listed under "jon boat" on their site.

OH...... MY..... GOD.....
I just went and looked at that boat....
they have completely butchered the transom and cut a huge section out of the aqueduct splash pan...

makes me want to cry openly.
that boat is toast as it sits....
looks like someone couldn;t figure out that they needed a long shaft motor lmao

Re: What it was/What it is

bassboy,

Thanks for the posting and keeping a lookout for altered boats that ruin them. I hope it helps prevent this from happening.

That utility boat was just like mine before someone thought they would improve it. It is a very strong boat and it does look like it's in good shape. Also looks like it has been painted, the original finish is anodized. It would be best if it was returned to original. The performance is greatly compromised with all that added clutter.
