what kind of boat is this?

I tried to attach a pic of a boat for sale that the current owner just called "Rational Exuberence". Any idea what make and model it is? He says it is an 1989 with a 3.7liter Mercruiser .

That is the kind of boat you should run away from unless you're looking for a project boat.

It has obviously been neglected and more than likely has rot below the deck... and if I'm not mistaken, those 3.7s break easy and are expensive to work on.

If its the chrysler based straight six 3.7.....its a great engine if looked after......they were known as the "slant six" over here.

No, it's a 4 cylinder. that slant 6 Chrysler is a great engine, I've had them in cars and trucks. Never saw one in a boat. From what I am reading the 3.7 Mercruiser is a problem prone engine due to the aluminum block, alternator in the front pulley, and water pump inside the engine. I have decided not to get that boat and try to restore it. I may get it for the Alpha I drive and the nice galvanized trailer. He wants $700 for boat and trailer but that may be negotiable.

I may get it for the drive for my 1973 Aristocraft 19 Mercruiser 165hp to replace my worn out drive. Is there any market for the 3.7liter or 470 parts?

The boat is a 1988 Maverick Sports boat according to the HIN. I checked the Alpha 1 drive and it looks good inside and out so I got boat. will be scrapping the hull after I pull the drive and try to sell some 3.7 motor parts. Trailer heavy duty galvanized with new tires.
