What kind of boat?

My father recently gave me his boat that has been stored in his garage for the last 23 years. I have many fond memories as a child, spending time fishing with my dad in this boat so want to do some restoring of it.
I need help in identfying and the closest I can come is a Lonestar. It is 16 ft aluminum.
I also would like some tips on what I can do to make it better for fishing. I would like to build up the floor but don't know where to start.

Most anything you'd like to try, probably already has been either Tried, or atleast been discussed...

Hi, Mark. Welcome aboard.

I know nothing about boats (still a newbie), but there are some very helpful folks on this forum. It looks like a good project. I'm not sure how much work you had in mind, but if it were me, I would do the minimum to get her sea worthy. That way you can try her out first before jumping into a big restoration. But I do understand your sentimental attachment to her.

Also, be sure to visit the Johnson & Evinrude Forum for help with your outboards. There are some quick/easy tests you can do to check the condition of the motors.

edit: after looking at your pics again, I realized that hull looks to be clean and in decent shape.

Ok I guess I am going to be the first to bring this up. Does that boat have three motors? Including one mounted on the side of the boat? Never before in my life ever in a million years have I seen something like that.

i looked at the pictures first, and thought immediately Lonestar. i had one several years ago, a 40-50 hp motor will make it fly.

this is a Duracraft i did, same vintage, the wood seats did not work out.

Ok I think I get it now. That side motor is just hung there for storage. It is not really 'mounted'.

No, My pops just hung the motor on the side. as we were looking at the back. It has the Johnson trolling motor which I am going to replace with an electric, and the Evinrude will go to a shop to get checked out. Everyone has been a big help so far. Thanks

I noticed that the rude was an hydro-electric ****. Those motors are not fun to work on so i hope it works out.

what is the model number on the evinrude, less see if it is electric, or hydro-electric shift. the shifter controls are no longer available, and parts for the motor can be expensive.

Does anybody think this is a lonestar? What do I do if they don't sell the parts to this motor anymore? Sounds like they don't sell the parts anymore. Can I still use the motor another way if it doesn't start with that Hydroelectric aparatus.

My 1st thought also was that of a Lonestar or Mirrowcraft.

There is a marina down in Fox Lake Illinois named Dicks Marine. Been around a very long time and has access to many new "old stock" parts. Can find him online also with a yahoo search.

Last I was there seen a number of those old used electric shift control boxes in a corner.
