After doing alittle reading, they almost look like skeen chocks, except for the wing on the side???

For the sake of simplicity, OP could pick up a couple 'traditional' cleats and replace the chocks with them. I'd recommend keeping the chocks for future proper restore tho.

no, I am in NM. This is what it looked like when I traded an old .22 rifle for the boat.

Good trade, but where in the world could you use a boat in the deserts of NM? It doesn't exactly look like it's in its natural environment :) But I bet it is very dry and has very little rot, unlike here in FL where you can pretty much watch the moss grow by the hour :) My sister lives on Kirtland AFB in ABQ, so I visit fairly often, but I don't remember seeing much water along the way :) ? (man made lakes? reservoirs?) Congrats again on the score! I'm jealous.

Elephant butte Lake is about three hours south of Albuquerque. Ute Lake is a nice one by Tucumcari (eastern part of the state). In the northwest there is Navajo Lake. Anyway you slice it, you have to drive about three hours to get to a lake.
