Ok,

Yet some more silly questions. Sorry to be a bother but I am still lost.

My Gypsy 15 has this for the control arm. I have been told that the larger one is a shift, throttle. The smaller one is like a crawl/first gear type. I, of course, have no clue. I do know that the larger one needs a cable. Badly. I brought this up in another post as to what cable I needed. I am still at a loss. Here are two pics that I hope will help.

Unrelated, but I would like an answer, the boat has two gas tanks. Both are almost full, but the second had some sort of additive added by the previous owner. Not sure what, will find out tomorrow what it was for sure but he advised that maybe it wasn't a good idea that he added it and dump the gas. Are additives ok in a 2 cycle?

Thanks for the help, right now the only help I have are these forums.

as the box says its for a mercury outboard..and your right ,the big one in the shift/throttle lever and the smaller one is the warm-up lever.it should only operate in neutral and the only puporse it serves is toadvance the throttle and a bit of timing on your initial start of the day....after that you should 'nt have th bother with it at all...hope it helps

Sweet! thanks for the answer! Now I know I can get the single lever 600A cable. One problem solved. Many more to go.

This should be the cable you need...

You just have to measure out the one your using now.You will also have to split the control box to replace it.While doing so make sure you lube everything up.Just in case you don't know that little button on top of the box is for your choke, and that nub on the front end is a connection for an original tach.

That is a most excellent idea. Now to find out what cable fits there. Is the second cable the same as the first? If not any identification on the second cable?

The boat is not at my home yet so it's difficult to do this. Should be here after next weekend.
