You'd be suprised how little it can take to plane a SIB. I sure didn't expect a 3.5 HP to put me on plane, and i was suprised when it did.

What a cool video! I tried my 3 1/2 on a 12 foot Portabote and the performance was anemic. I wonder how it would do on my 12" Saturn (SD365) with air floor? The floor should be more rigid than the PB. It sure would make using the boat a lot easier. I don't need to plane; just make steady headway against the tide. My back is 5 years older so maybe I'm a little more amenable to anemic performance.
