OMC----I think mid 70s---35 or 40 if it don't have a tag on the motor it should have a seriel no. and model no. on a soft plug on the powerhead

I don't have the numbers off it at this time, I don't think its a 35 or a 40 hp, though. <br /><br />I was thinking maybe more in the 20's.<br /><br />Anyone with anymore info?

My money's on a late 70's, early 80's 25hp. Those ignition coils look like the ones used on 25hp engines from '77 to '84.<br />...<br />Here we go, check out this 'CN' (1982) 25hp:<br /> Link, click here. <br />It's got a longshaft and no electric start, but you can see that unique midsection and the place for the solnoid, etc.<br /> <br />Looks like an obvious repaint of a Johnson - why would you want to pass it off as an Evinrude?? Maybe they liked blue better?<br />(ouch, my neck hurts now...)

looks identical to my '77 35 hp. Could be same year 25hp. They're very similar. Ignitions are identical. Can't see the prop, but the 35's of that year had thru-hub exhaust and 25's didn't. Also 35's had 5 tilt positions(holes), 25's only had 4. Looks like this one has 5.

It's a late 1970s early 1980s 25hp. It uses the "old" style lower unit with the solid hub propeller, which eliminates the 30 or 35hp as a possibility. Also, the block isn't black, which makes it no newer than about 1985 (which means it can't be a late 1980s 28-SPL). Also, it has had the coils replaced at some point, as the plug-on spark plug leads came in about the same time as the black blocks, if not later. There should be a nickel-sized silver plug on the block somewhere with the model and serial number repeated from the (missing) leg tag.<br />- Scott
