Hey guys, I got a Celebrity 240 with a 350 5.7, and Alpha II. I changed my prop once and got really bad performance, i broke the old one, and whent to a shop and I guess they sold me whatever they had in stock trying to convince me its the best for my boat.

I did some reaserch and correct me if im worng, but stainless steel is the best. 3 blade-> better top speed 4 blade-> better handeling/gas/acceleration

Now the diameter confused me. What is the diameter I need to get for my boat. I think a 4 blade would suite my needs better, even tho I need top end speed as well, (the lake is pretty big), but sometimes i have a lot of people on the boat and Im sick of telling people to go in the cabin to get the boat to tip:(

Please help.

Thanks

Oh ya, I also heard pitch is very important. and my boat would run 3500-4000rpm at WOT.

Welcome,
Pitch is the primary consideration when selecting a prop.Diameter is a product of the design. If the prop is designed for your application diameter will follow. Size usually appears on the barrel of the prop or sometimes under the prop nut.Sometimes only a part number.
Read the stickies at the top of the page.We need present prop size, max rpm and speed.

Would be very helpful to know what prop you have on it now. What pitch? And you say bad performance? What exactly does that mean? Slow out of the hole or top end? Give us a little more to go on and we would be happy to help.

Your a grand low on WOT rpm.

We need exact numbers to provide any useful suggestions though.
