What kind of trolling motor can i use?

can i use any kind of trolling motor on saltwater?, because i have a 1.5 hp die hard trolling motor. Would that be safe to use in saltwater, any help would be appreciated it, thanks.

what boat, size, where trolling? in protected waters or open water. not familiar with a 1.5 hp diehard.

T-daddy, they are just a regular electric trolling motor. I have seen a few on ebay. Some even have features like maximizer. For some reason, they measure it in Hp, not pounds thrust.

As far as running it in salt, don't ask me.

I don't know the specifics about this particular motor but can say that I've used several non SW rated Minn Kota and Shakespear motors in the salt. All were used on a trailered boat, 5-10 times/year and rinsed off well after each use. While they did see a little corrosion ( after several years) on metal parts, all continue to this day to function flawlessly.

I'd vote , go for it.
