I just bought this 14' aluminum runabout but someone has painted over the information placard. Does anyone know what make this is or how much power a boat like this can safely handle?

The HP limit is calculated by transom width, transom height and boat length. Its in the handbook for back yard boat building in the stickies

Looks like a StarCraft...I wouldn't go any bigger than 50-60hp...looks like it's going to be one heck of a project boat. Growing up in the early 60's my dad had a 1963 StarCraft Jet with a Mark 55A Merc 40hp....that thing Hauled Butt....All us kids learned how to water ski behind it.

Not a Starcraft, and probably rated for a 40hp.

Mcenzy/Cherokee would be my 1st guess. The gunwale end caps and large exterior plywood motor pad w aluminum trim wrapping its edges (if its all original) could help ID her.

Late 50s thru late 60s based on its styling and bubble windshield.

Good luck
