The subject line basically says it all. I'm installing a new deck into my Donzi Regazza (5/8" marine plywood encapsulated in polyster resin and fiberglass cloth and mat), and was wondering what type of cloth I should use for attaching the deck to the sides of the hull?
The new deck is going to be made outside of the boat (using a molding/layup process that will give me a smooth gelcoat surface on the topside), and then will be attached to the stringers using PL adhesive and screws in hidden areas. I was thinking of using something like a 1208 biax/mat tape on the sides (with polyester resin). Is there something more preferable than that? I will need to fair that joint too (for painting), so the smoother the finish, the better.
