What mixture?

I have a 1992 mariner 30 2 stroke, the guy I bought it from told me to use a 100-1 mix. A 1989 operation manual I managed to get hold of says to use a 50-1 mix, I don't know whether I can trust the manual, as you can see it is 3 years older than the engine!

Does anyone know for sure what mixture I should be using?

Re: What mixture?

Until confirmed otherwise, I would run 50:1, which is what my Merc runs at. It would take much more convincing to run at 100:1 than 50:1. Ask your local Mariner dealer.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Re: What mixture?

Well, my first question is, if he were using 100:1, what oil was he using?

My second question is, if he were using regular TCW, II, or III, which is made for 50:1, what has been going on in your engine (potential damage) as a result of that?

Like a 3 cyl Merc I bought from a guy, who had it for 2 years, that had a 17P prop on it. I had to go all the way to a 24P to get the rpm's down to the recommended level. It seems to be ok, but I still wonder.....lets see, 7" pitch at 200 rpm per inch = 1400 over 5600 = 7k rpms.

Actually my first hole shot, after the purchase, produced 7500 before I collected my senses (recovered from the whiplash) and dumped the throttle.
