Re: What motor is this?

Thanx alot ..... now, ..... the motor runs fine but the trim and tilt only works when it feels like it .... I was told there is a spesific suzuki trim and tilt that fits on this setup, is this true or will it be more cost effective to try and fix the current trim and tilt? Why would it only work when it feels like it .....

Re: What motor is this?

Intermittent operation suggest an electrical failure, broken wire, loose connection, bad relay, bad switch, etc.

Trim pump motor has 3 wires.
Black- ground
Blue- pos for upward movement
Green- pos for downward movement

You can connect these wires directly to the battery to test the motor.

Re: What motor is this?

You may be able to take the motor apart and clean it up, much like you would with a starter motor.

I have read that some Suzuki parts will work.

Aftermarket replacement motor/pumps are available here, about $300 US.
That is, assuming the pump and hydraulics are good.

You should be able to make most Chrysler or Force 3 wire motors work, from the late 70's to the late 80's, if you can find a used one.

Re: What motor is this?

thanx for all the info ..... now another question, if I start this motor with a good battery, can I change the battery while the motor is running with another battery not so fully charged? I know that with new motors you can't do this ...

Re: What motor is this?

I would say not. The motor is from 1980 and looks like it has a CD unit with regulator and rectifier. My guess is the motor wont even run once you disconnect the battery and if it did you would overload the regulator/rectifier.
