There should be NO air leakage anywhere on that fuel pump.

Well when I say leak its not on the physcail fuel pump, its as sealed as anything. Its just the screw retained on the block that has the indentation you screw the middle holding bolt for the fuel pump too. When I have the screw out there is like suction when you sick your finger where the screw goes on the block. When the screw is in there is no suction. Its like the back of where the screw goes is a countinous hole. Is this normal?

There are two (2) screws that attach the fuel pump to the powerhead. Whether those threaded holes go clear thru to the interior of the crankcase or not........ I really don't remember. However, it doesn't matter as the screws must be tight (sealed) in order for the fuel pump to function properly.

I have no idea what you mean by the "middle holding bolt"

Alright all everything is back together hot horn is working I'm in great shape. A question on design. Sine the water passage runs from top to the bottom, how does the hot horn work if the lower cyl gets hotter than the top since the sensor is in the top cylinder? Just wondering out of curiosity of the design. I've looked over and over at the diagram, and it looks like the bottom would be the first to over heat. Any info n this would be great

The top is the one more likely to trap air pockets and overheat.

I ws getting ready to set the timing, a mechanic said I should make sure the pointer needle is zeroed out. Can someone advise if this is true? and if so how do you do it? Couldn't find it in the manual.

It should be mentioned in your link and sync section. It'll talk about a piston stop tool - you can make one with an old long spark plug and a bent out tab.

Tonight is the night!!! I will be giong home since my water hose has thawed out here in TN. I'm going to start the engine for th first time. However, last questions I'm asking hoapefully. When I set the timing via joes method, since this engine is brand new (being rebuilt) should I hook the fuel line up to make sure the pistons get lubrication? Also should I retard the engine a couple for degrees for the break in period, because one of my trusted friends and mechanics said to retard the engine a degree or two during break in to prevent detonation. Said like 2-3 degrees. Also keep you fingers crossed that all works well and I'll be fishing tommorrow.
