What oil to use?

Now I am sure this will bring up a heated conversation on oils and I am not looking for that. What I want to know is what weight oil is best for a 85 5.7 350 in a 23 ft century? Also is there a difference in say a marine brand and a car brand motor oil?

Straight 30 wt......
Or Merc 25w -40.....
