What "old fashioned" items do you look for?

Maybe it's just because I am old that I remember things my parents and grandparents used that aren't available anymore.

I had to go to an antique store to find a covered glass butter dish.

Still haven't found a dish towel rack with the swinging arms, a one handed skulling paddle, Silex coffee maker or Sterno chafing dish.

What do you look for?

Spats are those canvas items that gather and cover the material at the lower leg of pants to resemble the top of high boots.

Not sure how old they are because I believe the Navy Shore Patrol still uses them (White).

Remember when an engine needed a valve job as part of a 20K mile tune-up or a carbon and ring job at 45K miles?

I like old tools.

My Grandad had a screwdriver with a wooden knob on the top I learned to use when I was a kid, I would love to find one like it. There are so many neat old tools. Old kitchen gadgets are another favorite of mine.

Re: What

Size 127 roll film cameras. There were made el cheapo and they were made high end . One was even made available as an SLR (Koma-flex), but a couple of quality twin-lens (Rolli-Flex, Yashica, Sawyer) were more popular.

127 film is now only made in the Efke plant in Croatia. Sad because the characteristics of the Efke film (also so under the names of Adox and Jessops) are unique and wonderful, accepts a pyro-stain beautifully. It’s just a matter of time before it is discontinued.

JB, the 127 film was a roll about the size of your pinky finger. Depending on the camera's format you typically got either 12 or 15 pix. The most popular format was a 4cm square negative.

Re: What

If I remember correctly, 127 was the same width as 35mm, but without the side perforations.

It is just a tad larger. 127 film is 40mm’s wide, 35mm film is, well, 35mm’s wide. :) You are correct, roll film does not have the perfs on either edge.

Slides made on 127 film fit into a slide holder with a larger, square window, and fit into a regular slide projector. They are called super-slides.

I bought several glass mountain dew bottles from the 60s on ebay, and 500 unused original bottle caps. I fill them myself with fresh dew. d:)

I also collect old pickup trucks...I'm up to three now. :%

I hunt wild pigs. They make great sausages. I can find all sorts of manual meat grinders, which I prefer, but have been unable to find the sausage stuffing attachment that goes on it.
