What or is There a Too Long "SeaFoam"

I planed on putting some seafoam in my cylinders through the plug holes today. I was wondering how long was too long to leave inside the cylinder before I start it. I planed on waiting on a starter and wont get until four days from now just thought a got soak wouldn't hurt.

good question, i don't know the answer. but interested in the answers we get. edit your heading to include Seafoam. ithought we were going to talk about long or short shafts.

seafoam deepcreep breaks down hard deposits and gumming,i would think a couple of days woulnt hurt but if you know when your going to put in the new starter why not do ithe spraying say the day before.or after you put in the starter do it then.if your using muffs, sray in carb while running 1000rpm or so then shut down ,sray in cylinders liberally then wait a few hours. start back up.if you have a skitter problem you wont after you start it up.lol. my engine litterally came to life after doing this,you could actually hear the motor getting better. im a convert to this stuff now and for evermore.after you can use seafoam as a gas additive for preventive maint. use once every so many tanks or so or all the time if you wish. p.s. im not a salemen for this stuff but id sure like to be ,its goodstuff. ive seen people come in to the local parts store and buy cases of there products.

Well I called NAPA and first asked if they had SeaFoam and they said "well ya" with a little sniker like that is the stuff !!! Then I asked my question and the guy said hold on... After a few minutes he said "We don't know" but you can call this number and ask... I called the number and it was SeaFoam. Just prior to hanging up the NAPA guy said "man call me back if you hear because I use that stuff all the time and was wondering the same thing the other day". I called Seafoam and had to leave a message but just said I had to question and wanted to purchase three million units so they would call me back... Just kiddin about the purchase thing !!! Anyways I called Travis Boating here in Claremore Oklahoma who say they have the best boat mechanics in the world and they said what is SeaFoam ??? Anyway I will post what SeaFoam tells me here later.. Thank you for any replys I have never been pointed in the wrong direction for this fourm and value your guys opinon more than what SeaFoam will tell me.

boat places also sell what your looking for if i remember correctly. one would be powertune i think.if i owned a marina id also tell you my product is best.seafoam does have a site that might be able to answer some of your question. good luck. there are lots of b.s. products out there that make fantastic claims but from my own personal experince it worked for me,so im happy and it didnt cost a fortune.i also talked to a marine mech. and he said on some of the bigger motors they recommend doing it twice a year expecillay if you troll a lot like i do with my 90 rude.

SeaFoam Just called me back and asked what my question was then told me they would have to call me back in a few. Wow!!! i thought this question would be answered pretty quick by someone...

Assuming that "Deep Creep" is just the spray version of Seafoam, here's how they say to use it...

"With engine warm, keep on high idle and spray through carburetor, or throttle body throat. If engine is port injected, use only vacuum lines that feed all cylinders. When engine is loaded up, turn off ignition. Restart engines after 5 minutes. Make sure exhaust is well ventilated as fumes will be extreme for a short time. Ideal for small engines. Use a Schraeder Valve hose attachment if needed for outboard motors. For further cleaning, use SEA FOAM MOTOR TREATMENT in tank."


And, when you get done with that, you can start on these:

LUBRICATES pulleys, ball bearings, hinges, wheels, fishing reels, sewing machines, valves, locks, rollers, toys, bicycle chains, gears, fan blades and drawers.

I don't think pouring seafoam into a cold sitting motor will do a darn thing. I just got through soaking a used piston in pure seafoam for over a week. Carbon is still there and still hard.

Best thing to do.....read the directions on the container. Then you can't go wrong.

I too think it's the heat combined with the treatment that does the trick....Might be why it's best to add it to the tank and run it...

It needs the temperature of combustion to work. Kinda like oven cleaner. You have to do it to a running motor til it dies or it does nothing but eat the soft stuff on it's way down the leg.

Rather than spraying into the cylinders, many of us use a separate container of fuel mixed with a heavy dose of SeaFoam. Let it run through the entire fuel system and then kill the engine. Restart in half an hour or so and repeat the process. Three sessions should be enough and the smoke should be nearly gone after the third session. Then head for the lake and run the be-jeepers out of it. Putting Seafoam into the cylinders just cleans the piston tops and combustion chamber. Going through the fuel system you clean the it and the ports as well as the rings and piston skirts.
