1.5 oz is easy to get and what you need.

I use 1.5oz mat and one layer of biaxle cloth, the kind with mat on one side and the cloth on the other.

bingobongo,

I used XM, which is cross stiched woven with a 1.5oz matt backing. Very hard to wet out, If I were doing it again I would do it in more than 1 layer with woven and matt.

Peace.

If you were only going to use mat it won't be that strong, you need roving or Biax in it for strength. Roving and mat is the easiest combination to use.

1.5oz mat alternating with 18oz or 24 oz roven. Mat goes on first.

It's best to run it over the top, make sure there is room for the deck to set back down on it (don't build it up too high). There are different sizes, but you can cut it to any size you want if you can't get what you need. You will find two weights of roving, 18oz. and 24oz., 18 is easier to use and 24 is stronger, but get what's availible it won't make a big difference. You won't know the brand when you buy it and it won't be an issue.
