All depends, I personally take the whole thing apart and do it if I want a good job, a quick job i'd leave it together.

After assembly, then you don't risk messing up the fresh paint with tool marks plus you don't have much masking to prevent paint from getting into unwanted places.

Are there any of you who can upload some pics of your beautifully resprayed outboards.The pic of the Johnson 60hp is an absolute inspiration.I WANT MINE TO LOOK LIKE THAT!!!! The other outboard pic is also fab, good job guys!

I cant find anyone locally who stocks the OMC Paint, is the the RustOleum or DupliColor ok on the powerhead?

I found these guys on the web, they paint outboards in miami. I took my motor to them to paint it, but I think you can call them and they will sell you the paint they would use for your outboard. I love the job they did with my motor. Looks brand new again! I copied the website link below, Hope this helps.

many nice pics out there! go to nymarine.ca and have a gander at some of the oldies! (and some of the parts/paints/decals that still can be obtained!
