OK here we go.....D... A... question number 1
I have a merc 9.8 with the ser # 5712815 I was told that it is a 1981 it has not run in years ...there is no spark and the wires that run from under the fly wheel are rotted off what is the part called that they come out of ?....i will start with this and if and when i get spark then i know that a carb rebuild and water pump are next ...it is a good clean moter and i want to price the parts i will need to see if it is worth fixing

There are two things, the stator and the trigger. You can try and do a splice if there's any good wire left up there.

thanks ....i wanted to see price wise what i was getting in to be for i took it apart ..
