To get a better hole shot (get on plane faster), a 4-blade is gonna help, but it is gonna cost you a little top end.
This is the never-ending dilemma.
However, if your current prop is of an older design and is a 3-blade, a modern 4-blade prop of the same pitch will give you great low-end bite for the hole shote, get you on plane faster, probably make mid-range performance better, and very nearly match the old-technology 3-blade prop in top end, although 4 blades are nearly always at a disadvantage in top end because more metal is slapping through the water causing drag.
Since so little of your time is spent near the top end, focus on getting on plane faster. Losing top end means 1-3 MPH. No big deal at all.
