guys, i've searched for this, what i would assume to be an easy question, and cannot locate an answer.
I have a 1997 120hp with mercury ignition and i cannot find the correct plugs. The problem that i keep having is that i cannot find any kind of reference when searching for plugs on this force to a mercury ignition.
can someone point me in the right direction?

Motor information
1997 120 ELPT
max rpm 5250

Re: what plugs??

Original Chrysler and Force engines used a Champion L20V (322). Cross reference NGK BUHW.

When Merc started actually manufacturing the Force engines, they switched to L76V (Mercury plug) You can't go wrong with the L76V and I think the NGK BUHX is the equivalent--I don't have my chart handy and the memory isn't what it used to be so double check me.

Re: what plugs??

Actually the L76V crosses to a NGK BUHW. The BUHX is the booster gap plug used on the earlier Prestolite ignition systems..

I prefer the Champions but the last few years I've noticed that they were made in Mexico. Had several plugs that were not assembled correctly. Had one missing the center electrode. Another had a really rough finish and inner portion of the body that formed the gap around the center electrode was not perfectly round. It was more like hexagonal.

I have since switched to the NGK's and I have not seen any problems like this.
