I just bought a 1989 Javelin 171 bass boat. It comes with a Johnson Evinrude GT150. THe motor did not have a prop with it. What type of prop do I need? The dimensions and all that? I am new to this and I have no clue what to look at.

You need to be in the PROP forum. There is no such thing as a "stock" prop. In fact new motors of that size are not even shipped with one since the engine builder has no idea what boat the engine will go on.

Look I don't need a response like this. Keep your post to yourself. You know what I am asking. I bought a boat with no prop. I didn't say I needed a "stock" prop on it. I need to know like the what type of prop I needed. Like the right pitch, is there is a certian diameter size, width size and so forth.

Re: What prop do I need?

There is a section on this website that I used to learn about props. Up in the top there is a heading "boat propellers" that list props for sale. It has a lot of info on size, pitch and rpm levels.

If you search for your engine by year, size etc it will give you a list of props. The different pitch will be depending on your use of the boat......pulling skiers or getting all out top end.

I have a johnson 85 on a bass boat and I use a 17 degree prop. Works great for getting on plane and all around low and top end.

you will need to enter the year of your engine, but it is probably a 15" diameter prop.

There are several prop calculator websites that will get you close. Unless someone on this forum has the exact same boat and motor combo, all will be a guess.
