So i just purchased a 1996 Sea Ray 175 with a 3.0l mercruiser. I took it out for the first time yesterday. The boat is in mint condition and runs perfectly. On my first trip i was able to average about 41 mph gps. 40mph one way (against the current) and 43mph the other. That was at 4500-4550rpm based on guage, with light load, full fuel and just me and the girl maybe 75# gear, trimmed properly. Boat weight is about 2,050# dry. I am going to be doing a combination of watersking, tubing, wakeboarding, and just general cruising, with at least 4 people on board or course. I would like to keep my top speed (or maybe even gain a little :D) but feel like with a heavy load it would struggle. It has the original 3 blade 21p prop i think it is 14.25" dia. it has a very little cup, if any. It is in good shape, no damage, but can a prop "wear out"? I was thinking of going with either this

or this

for my main prop and use my current as a spare.
my wot range on my motor is 4400-4800 rpm if i go to a 4 blade i would have to go down a little in pitch? or do i stick with a 21p? I think i will stick with aluminum unless someone has amazing results with a ss. are certain props cupped more from the factory or are they custom?
does anyone have any recommendations?
what are anyone experiences with a similar setup? I know i asked a million questions but any help would be appreciated. At least i gave the required information...:)
