I need to buy a new rope and handle for wakeboarding and skiing use. What characteristics should I look for, and what brands do you recommend? Mostly used with my kids who are learning to both wakeboard and ski. Looking to spend less than $70 for rope and handle if possible.

Re: What rope/handle should I buy

Hey Golf101,
Ropes are almost as personal as a board itself. When my regular riding partner's come over for a session we pretty much each have our own set-ups.
As far as brand goes, I am a sucker for Ronix, I currently ride the Ronox One handle, I just love the brand because it is made for riders by riders. One important factor is the Width, most cheap handles are 12 inches wide, most pro grade handles are 15-16 inches wide and it makes a huge difference on riding stance and also for handle pass tricks.
For rope, I use a Straight Line team rope, i run it at 71 feet., but you can adjust it, comes in 5 sections. Feels to me like rope from a clothes line, zero stretch so you can start from the water at a very low speed and the boat will still get you up without effort.
For the best prices, check sites like buywake.com and evogear.com, they always have good packages in their outlet and clearance sections!

Judging from your current location and name, im sure you are getting stoked on the Master's!!!!

Thanks much.

Can't wait for the Masters, just hoping it's not too much of a Tiger side show. If he didn't make the cut, that might actually be good for the event.

Like mentioned above, its preference really but aim for the No-Stretch rope if you can and are willing to pay more for it.

try ebay. I got a zero stretch coated rope that is 80 feet long with a handle for $65. I dont see it there now. But they come up from time to time.

For wakeboarding you def want a zero stretch rope. Otherwise it makes things a lot harder, specifically jumping.
