Without intention of hi-jacking this thread I have to say Alzheimers(sp) is a horrible disease for all parties incolved. I was fortunate enough to have met my great grandmother before her decline with the disease, and it was very heart wrenching to watch her decline. Many times I can recall watching her not recognize her own children or grand children but spout off the names of the great grandkids as well as the great-great grandkids with absolute ease. Having met her before the disease took hold it was disheartining to see the decline, to say the least. To see the obvious frustration on her part when she knew that these people were kin but she couldn't say how was the absolute worst part. <br /><br />With that said, my worst fear is to be an incosequential figure in the life of the people I know. Being remembered for my ideals, not deeds, words or name. That is, to me, the quintesential immortal life.

Well said DaleT.My father in law died two years ago from Alzheimers.In his final days,he knew noone around him and was very childlike and emotional.He lasted his last 7 days mosly in a fetal position until going to heaven.It was especially hard on my wife,her sister,and my mother in law.It was hard for me to see them grieve so.He was a true father to his children and is dearly missed.<br /><br />Your last comment is right on.

I mean, that's happened to you all too hasn't it?

I am with the alzheimers crowd.<br /> it runs in my family .<br /> got my drandfather, we kept him here until the final week. got two of his brothers, 3 of his brothers kids, my dad was starting with it when he died of Mesothelioma and various other relatives developed it in their 70's.<br /> its a terrible disease. and occasionally the fog would lift and grandad would become coherent and realize what was happening. as the years went by the coherency diminished and it was just sad.<br /> so other than that I really dont sweat much as like alzheimers I really have no control over it.

Being stabbed or anything in the dark. I am not at all worried about being shot but stabbed just scares me to death.

There are a few women who scare the hell out of me, but i ain't skeered of no Ladyfishes, like heycods is... <br /><br />Kidding aside, Alzheimers has to be the worst.. My great Aunt has it.. She is just a "shell" of herself, so to speak, and has at times become boreder-line violent and very nasty... <br /><br />To me, the saddest part is, her little dog passed away a few months ago, and she still calls for the dog to come sit in her lap...<br />

Diving at 45 feet below, looking into the blue gray void of open water and expecting to see a shark coming out of nowhere straight for you and next thing you know is a hammerhead moving in on you.Just remembering gives me a chill down my spine.
